Program Director, Lance Miller, originally from Bridgewater, NJ, graduated from Villanova University, and played professional basketball, overseas, for 9 years. Lance is best known for winning 3 High School State Championships, while scoring over 2000 points at Bridgewater High School West.

In February 2011, the Villanova Varsity Club inducted Lance into the Villanova Hall of Fame for his successful basketball career. Lance ranks among the all-time career leaders at Villanova in four different categories, including ranking seventh in career steals, 14th in assists, 20th in rebounds and 24th in points scored (1,468). During his college career, Lance was a second team All-BIG EAST selection in 1992. He helped the Wildcats win 57 games during his career with two NCAA Tournament appearances.

Lance resides in Somerset, NJ with his lovely wife and children.

Chrystal Rinehold

Chrystal was born and raised in Somerset County, New Jersey. She was a graduate of Bound Brook High School in 2006 and later graduated from Kean University in 2012 with a degree in Health and Physical Education Teacher Certified. Chrystal is now a Physical Education and Health teacher at Elizabeth High School, NJ and also the Varsity Assistant Girls Basketball coach.

Chrystal was a standout all season athlete and basketball player who broke records, led 2 years straight in stats and won numerous awards for her achievements. In 2006, Chrystal pulled down 30 rebounds in a game setting the record for the most rebounds in a single game. In addition she led her team to the longest winning streak. She was recognized by The Courier News three separate times as “Star of the Week” and one time in 2006 as “Athlete of the Month”. Chrystal was chosen as All Team MVP, 1st Team Defender, and won the Outstanding Senior Athlete, and Most Athletic Award.

In addition, Chrystal earned the Michael “Mooney” Pitoscia basketball scholarship in honor of Michael Pitoscia for exhibiting a strong work ethic, dedication to “team” and sense of humor. Chrystal’s awards and accomplishments speak for themselves as she is a hard worker and dedicated team member on and off the court.

In the greater athletic community, Chrystal is well known for her involvement in training and coaching basketball from youth to college level. In 2010, she was the assistant for Raritan Valley Community College Women’s Basketball. From there she began coaching AAU and working on player development, counseling, and strength & conditioning for several camps and clinics throughout the years including the Philadelphia 76ers, Franklin Warriors, Ground Up, MC-YMCA Women’s Basketball and RVCC sports camp. Chrystal is now currently the assistant varsity basketball coach at Elizabeth High School and aside from working with players in the off season, she runs a women’s basketball program for college teams and athletes to compete against other teams during the summer offseason.

Growing up with a love basketball, Chrystal views the sport as a great opportunity to learn lifelong skills that transcend the athletic realm. She’s a tireless worker whose passion is to teach the game of basketball and constantly states that the gymnasium in an extension of the classroom. Chrystal is passionate about developing Student Athletes for the future.

Kevin Barton

Coach Kevin currently resides in Somerville, NJ. He attended Kean University and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management. Coach Kevin is a dynamic leader strongly committed to working with the youth, and has an understanding and passion for sports. Coach Kevin coaches and trains all year around; during the school season, he coaches the boys at Pingry High School with Coach Jason Murdock. During the offseason he coaches for Team Miller and trains vigorously throughout the year. In addition to all of those commitments, he also runs youth basketball development classes at the local YMCA’s for the communities. Coach Kevin; has dedicated his life to developing the youth and even D1 and Pro athletes; his work is never ending.

Despite being one of the newest coaches to the program, don’t be fooled by his laid back demeanor and youthfulness, this guy means business. He is focused on winning, but more importantly ensuring players make it to the next level of play. Within the first year at Team Miller, he has brought home 2 US Junior National Championships and a State Championship title over to Team Miller. Conquering high exposure tournaments in Hershey Park and Washington D.C and winning 4 championships in other local tournaments while going undefeated in 3 of them.

Coach Kevin loves to share his knowledge and experience to player who dream big and work hard.

At the end of the day, I hope our players take from me an understanding that there is a bigger game than basketball – the game of life. My larger focus outside of coaching is on helping them navigate, survive and be successful at that game. Sports is a microcosm of life. Orin Taylor

Coach Orin Taylor has been coaching with the Team Miller Lightning program since September 2009. Immediately after passing the Rutgers’ Safety Exam for Coaching, he was named Head Coach of Team Miller’s U12 team. Coach Taylor is also a current NCAA Certified Coach. In the two and a half years that he’s been coaching, Coach Taylor has participated in various clinics, instructing alongside the likes of Tom Sclafani, Phyllis Mangina, former Seton Hall Women’s Basketball Coach, as well as former Utah Jazz player, Chuck Everson.

Coach Taylor, better known to his players as Coach Orin, was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and raised in College Park, Georgia. He played Varsity basketball from his freshman through senior year, at Benjamin E. Banneker High School, where he not only graduated Top 10 in his class, but was also named the 5th leading scorer in Fulton County (1993). Coach Orin has an extreme knowledge and undying love for the game of basketball. When coaching, Orin focuses on the basic fundamentals of basketball, conditioning and next level skills training, along with form shooting. Since being with Team Miller, Coach Orin has coached 9 freshman girls that are currently playing Varsity basketball for four different New Jersey high school teams.

Taurin Wheeler

Coach Taurin Wheeler  has been a Shooting Trainer and Skill Development Coach since 2015 and has years of experience coaching at the High School, AAU and Collegiate Level.

For three years, Coach Taurin was an assistant coach for Girls Varsity at Somerville High School. He is currently a High School Coach at The Pingry School in NJ and coaches AAU women’s basketball at Team Miller Lighting, one of the most elite AAU programs in New Jersey.

Coach Taurin is a graduate of St. John’s University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management. For three years at St. John’s, Coach Wheeler worked as a team manager for the Men’s Basketball program. During the 2010-2011 season the team earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in nine years.
